Recyclable, Compostable, Plantable

At events it’s fun to have something to hand out, but we didn’t want something that would just end up in the trash. Charged with the task, I started looking for something USA made and recycled. That’s when I came across seeded plantable pins here. After doing some more research I learned that not only was the paper seeded with marigolds and zinnias, the backing was compostable, the pin part was made from scrap metal, and attached with compostable glue made from egg shells. It took me about 2 seconds to realize that they were a perfect fit for us.

We are pretty excited about handing them out and getting to tell people they grow flowers too. After a pin has been totally worn out (and seen by tons and tons of people) … all you have to do is remove and recycle the metal pin part, soak in water, and then plant into some soil. Bam, flowers.

It’s kind of a mouth full … “They’re compostable. And recyclable. And plantable. Did I mention we make popcorn too?”. We might have to work on the pitch a bit, but you get the idea.

Just found Quinn Popcorn on the shelves of my local Target store in Grand Forks, North Dakota! Bought it up because we have been making popcorn in paper bags (to avoid the yucky stuff) for a long time and when I saw a microwave popcorn using pure bags I got SO excited! Thank you! What great story you have – an awesome example of a successful effort to clean up the food we all love! Best of luck to QP! Please keep up the amazing work!
